A former Ambassador of Yugoslavia to the European Union during the 1980s and special advisor on EU issues in the first democratic government of Serbia (2001-2004), prof. Crnobrnja has extensive practical and academic experience in European integration and transition. He is an author and coordinator of different EU-related studies and internationally recognized authority on the subject. He has been working as a university lecturer for more than 30 years, including posts at FEFA, McGill University in Montreal and Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade.
Faculty
Dr Goran Pitic is a Professor of Macroeconomics and the President of the Council of the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration (FEFA). He is the President of the Board of Directors of Societe Generale Serbia, a board member of Sava Insurance and Metalac Company. Dr Pitic holds a PhD from the Faculty of Economics, Belgrade University. He also holds two MA degrees – from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics, and from the University of Toronto Economics Department. He completed postgraduate studies in Quantitative Development Economics Program at the University of Warwick, UK in 1991/92, and advanced trainings in Macroeconomics, economic policy and financial market at top universities and institutions in the USA, UK and France. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the Minister of International Economic Relations in the first democratic Government of the Republic of Serbia. Dr Pitic is a Member of the Presidency of the Serbian Economists Association, member of the Association of Corporate Directors, and a member of the board of the Serbian Banks Association.
Dr Savic teaches Economics and Competitiveness. He has more than thirty years of experience in company restructuring and institution building for market economy. Dr Savic was a member of top expert teams advising on economic reform policies in Serbia. Now he is a member of the Serbian National Competitiveness Council. He holds a PhD and MA from Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade. Dr Savic authored seven books (including Savic, N. and G. Pitic, Eurotransition – Challenges and Opportunities, Media Center and Economics Institute, 1999) and more than thirty articles (including Savic, N., “How to Improve Transition in the Next Decade”, presented at 12th World Congress of International Economic Association, Buenos Aires, 23-27 August, 1999; Savic, N., “Macroeconomic Stability and the Transition Process”, in: N. C. Baltas, G., Demopoulos and J. Hasid, eds., Economic Inter-dependence and Cooperation in Europe, Springer Verlag, Berlin – Heidelberg, 1998). Professor Savic had served as President of the Yugoslav Economists Association and Editor-in-Chief of Economic Barometer, leading monthly business cycle publication on Yugoslav economy. Now he is a member of the managing board of Alpha Bank Serbia and was previously a president of the managing board of Komercijalna banka, Serbia.
Professor at FEFA (Economic Development; International Financial Architecture) and Director of the FEFA Centre for Advancement of Competitiveness. Lead Economist in IEG (Independent Evaluation Group), The World Bank. Editor in Chief of the Journal Finansije (published by the Ministry of Finance of Serbia). Past career includes various positions at the World Bank, such as Country Manager for Ukraine, and Co-Director of the Joint Vienna Comprehensive program for government officials from the Former Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe. Holds MA in Cost Benefit Analysis (1977) and PhD in Macroeconomic Modeling (1984) from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics. Completed postdoctoral studies at UC Berkeley, USA (1990). Authored and co-authored a number of publications on macroeconomic policy, development, institutional reform and transition issues, as well as on various aspects of competitiveness.
Snezana Popovcic-Avric, PhD, is Professor and Academic Dean at the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration in Belgrade. She earned her Master and Doctoral Degree at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade. Dr Avric speaks English and German. She has written several books in the field of international economics and more than a hundred articles and papers. She teaches International Economics, International Economic Relations, and International Business at FEFA. She also teaches Economics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade.
Dr Milica Bisic is a Professor of Public Finance and Fiscal Policy at FEFA. She holds Bachelor and PhD degrees from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics, and a Masters degree from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Economics. She taught Price Theory, Theory of Production and Institutional Economics at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics. Her work experience includes, inter alia: Professor of Price Theory and Institutional Economics at the University of Belgrade, Director of Corporate Affairs in Philip Morris Belgrade, Director of Tax Administration in Republic of Srpska and Deputy Minister of Finance in Serbia. For her efforts and achievements in combating tax evasion and corruption during her leadership in Tax Administration in Republic of Srpska, Transparency International awarded her with its most prestigious Integrity Award. She is Head of Markets at KPMG Belgrade, member of the Serbian Fiscal Association, the Serbian branch of International Fiscal Association – IFA and Associate in the Center for Liberal Democratic Studies. She is a coauthor of one textbook and two books, and has published more than 40 articles and studies mostly in microeconomics, institutional economics, fiscal policy and transition.
Since 2006 Dr Trbovich serves as Director, Centre for European Integration and Public Administration at the FEFA Institute. She teaches and writes on European Integration, Negotiations and Management of Public Administration. From 2002 to 2006, Dr Trbovich was Assistant Minister of International Economic Relations, coordinating Serbia's EU accession process and foreign investment policies. She holds a PhD (Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy), two Masters Degrees (Master of Art in Law and Diplomacy, Fletcher School; Master in Public Administration, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard) and BA (Tufts University, triple-major in Economics, International Relations and French Literature). Specialized in EU policies at Institut d'Etudes Politiques, France. Dr Trbovich also works as a consultant on competitiveness, entrepreneurship and SME policy, business climate, investments, renewable energy policy and workforce development for international organizations including OECD and USAID. She is the author of "A Legal Geography of Yugoslavia's Disintegration" (Oxford University Press, 2008) and articles in the field of Economics, European Integration and Public Sector Management.
Gordana Matkovic, PhD is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration (FEFA) and Director of Social Policy Studies at the Centre for Liberal Democratic Studies. From mid 2007 she is engaged as an Adviser to the President of the Republic of Serbia. Dr Matkovic holds a B.A. and M.A. degree from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics and a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sociology Department. She works as a consultant for the World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP and other local and international organisations. She is a Visiting Professor in graduate studies on Demography at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics. From 2000 to 2004 she served as the first Minister of Labour, Veteran and Social Affairs in the transition government, and then as Minister of Social Affairs in the first democratically elected Government of Serbia. During her mandate, the reform of the pension and social protection systems were initiated and the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper was formulated and adopted. Dr Matkovic has authored Demographic Factors and Labour Supply (1994) and Decentralization of Social Welfare in Serbia (2006), as well as numerous studies and papers. In 2004, Gordana Matkovic received the Konstantnin Obradovic award in the area of human rights promotion and in 2005 she won the annual Women in Business and Government Award bestowed by the Erste Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Zoran Cirovic is a high profiled expert in the area of financial management and financial markets. He gained key expertise through scientific research in Serbia and abroad. His applied work as Assistant Minister for International Cooperation in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia has provided him with a deeper insight and thorough understanding of financial institutions in the European Union, and extensive knowledge of the EU financial market.
Dr Djulic is Assistant Professor at FEFA and Associate Operations Officer at the International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group, working on the Corporate Governance Program. She holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Belgrade, a Master of Law (LL.M.) from Northwestern University, a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University JFK School of Government, and a PhD degree from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics. Prior to joining IFC, Ms Djulic worked as a legal adviser to firms in Belgrade and New York and afterwards at the Ministry of Finance, first as an adviser to the Minister and then as an Assistant Minister in charge of the Financial System Division. She also worked for European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London in Office of General Council. Dr Djulic was a member of Board of Directors in DDOR, Novi Sad, a member of Supervisory Board in Jubanka, Beograd and Chairwoman of Supervisory Board in Central Securities Depositary and Clearing House, Republic of Serbia.
Dr Branislav Masic is a full professor of Management at FEFA and Singidunum University in Belgrade, Serbia. He is the author of the first textbook on Strategic Management in the former Yugoslavia (1996), as well as other books and 60 articles. He conducts research and teaches Strategic Management, Management Principles, Leadership, Knowledge Management, Change Management, SME Management, and Entrepreneurial Leadership. He has taught at University of Novi Sad (Faculty of Technical Sciences), University of Podgorica (Faculty of Economics), University of Banja Luka (Faculty of Economics), East Sarajevo University (Faculty of Economics Pale and Faculty of Economics Brcko), BK University in Belgrade etc. He holds a masters and PhD degree from University of Sarajevo, and has further trained at RVB (Netherlands International Institute of Management), which is now known as MSM - Maastricht School of Management (1992), and IEDC- Bled School of Management (2003). He managed municipal tax administration in Cajnice (1978), and worked as deputy general manager of BK Concern in Moscow (1993-4), Dean of Faculty of Management BK in Belgrade (2001-2005), Associate Dean for Business Cooperation at Singidunum University in Belgrade and today he is the Dean of the Faculty of Business at Singidunum University.
Dr. Miroljub Hadzic is a professor at FEFA and at the Singidunum University Faculty for Business, teaching Corporate Banking. He graduated at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics in 1981, earning a M.Sc. degree in 1984, and PhD in 1990. He also holds a masters degree from the Institute of Social Studeis in the Hague, the Netherlands. He is a member of the Scientific Association of the Economists of Serbia and a member of the Serbian Economists Association. Additional experience includes work in the Federal bureau for social development (1982-91), and the Republic of Serbia Bureau for Development, where Dr Hadzic served as Assistant Director (1992-97). He was also appointed Assistant Minister and later Deputy Minister in the Ministry for economic and ownership transformation (1997-2000). From 2000 to 2005 he worked in Kapital bank and as the General Manager of the Representative office of Mainl Capital Advisors AG, Vienna. Dr Hadzic has published more than 80 research papers.
Nebojsa Maric is professor of statistics and mathematics at FEFA. He worked at the United Nations, New York, for two years – one year as a statistician at Statistical Office, and one year as a programmer at International Computing Centre. As a Fulbright Fellow for postdoctoral research at Colorado State University, he contributed papers to American scientific journals co-authoring F.A.Graybill, the President of the American Statistical Association.
